A revered team of bartenders works without a net at the Broken Shaker, a nook of dive-y romance in the Freehand Hostel, daring you with exotic mescals (Del Maguey Pechuga, for instance) and seasonal drinks such as Burning the Devil, an unholy combination of Ron Zacapa 23 and Don Q Anejo rum, Madeira, Averna liqueur, pumpkin-pecan orgeat and egg, with roasted pumpkin seeds and a smoked marshmallow garnish. There is also the captivating ambience of the dreamy, tree-shrouded brick patio that prompted the booze hounds at Esquire, in naming the Broken Shaker one of its 2017 Best Bars in America, to ask: “Why can’t the rest of Miami Beach be this understatedly and effortlessly cool?”
